Stay Behind Me

Kuchi lay in the basket that Steele's owner had put for her in the small room in the house. She near due with the puppies, and a basket with a thick blanket was perfect for her. In the middle of the night, she woke up to sounds of footsteps outside. She thought it was one of the owners' children coming in late from a night out, so she ignored it.

But then Kuchi heard a window open in the room right next to her, and she didn't hear footsteps from inside the house opening it. She stood up slowly, her belly full with puppies and she stepped out and into the hallway, looking around. Down the hall, Kuchi saw someone climbing through the window, wearing nothing but black and a ski mask. She gasped and whirled back into the room.

She pawed Steele on the shoulder. "Steele, STEELE!!" she hissed. The black and white husky groaned and looked at her.

"What...?" he groaned, yawning.

"Someone's trying to break in!!" she whimpered, dropping her ears. Steele instantly jumped up when he heard this. She nuzzled into his furry neck. "I'm scared..."

Steele and Kuchi looked to see the light turn on and the burglar staring at them. Steele stood in front of Kuchi, his teeth baring and a growl escaping his throat. The burglar raised a small whip that was used for a horse, but Steele started barking. Not long after, his owner woke up and the burglar took off back out the window, hitting and smashing things on his way out. Steele followed him, managing to sink his teeth into the burglar's ankle before he escaped.

Kuchi laid in the basket again, shaking. The owner walked and patted Steele on his head. "Good boy." Steele snorted and walked over to Kuchi, nuzzling her.

"It's alright now..." he said. "Nothing will hurt you or our puppies..." And Kuchi trusted him...



Fanfiction of Balto!!! Kuchi is Balto's sister I created, and she nd Steele are mates. I wanted Steele to be her mate because even though he's an asshole, he's a sexy one at that.
